In response to a terrible tragedy and shooting that occurred in 2012, RGA was hired to design a way to safely separate the incoming public at the New Castle County Courthouse from those that are leaving. The solution utilized a level 3 bullet proof mirrored glass wall system that blended with the existing lobby aesthetic. The exit vestibule with turnstile was completely redesigned and reconstructed with mirrored glass automatic sliding doors. In addition, a level 2 bullet proof observation booth was added to place a capitol police officer in between the two new zones should there ever be a shooting event again.
In addition, a level three bullet proof command center desk was provided within the security check point, an automated PA system added to the exterior plaza and public queuing area to provide repeated instruction to the public thus allowing the Capitol Police to focus more on Security, and the exterior ADA accessible ramp was completely redesigned and constructed
