The Project site lies on a 223.5 acre property consisting of two adjacent parcels. Midshore II became the host waste facility for four local counties in 2011. Approximately 70 acres on the site were timbered to prepare for the beginning stages of sitework. For R G Architects the Project consisted of two buildings designed to support the Midshore II Regional Solid Waste Facility in Caroline Co., Maryland.
The larger Administration building is a 7,500 sq. ft. pre-engineered steel building. It is divided into 3 sections; office space (with 2 offices, break room, conference room, locker rooms & a mechanical room), two vehicle maintenance bays with a storage mezzanine above over the office area.
The Vehicle Maintenance Bay encompasses approximately half of the building’s footprint & is a large, open bay space designed for the repair of heavy equipment used throughout the facility.
The Scale House is a one-story, 312 sq. ft. structure designed for two attendants to monitor garbage delivery trucks as they enter and exit the facility and drive over the truck scales. This building contains work space, a kitchenette and a restroom.
