In 2015 RG Architects was contracted to design a new 16,644s.f., one story, $5 million building that shall provide a new secure intake and holding facility for the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center.  The new building replaces the current intake facility located in the center of the institution that causes long wait times for incoming vehicles with offenders waiting to be processed. The building also serves as a secure Sally Port facility for existing inmate court transport and work crews as they leave and re-enter the campus. The project is currently awaiting construction funding from the State of DE.
