The James T. Vaughn Correctional Center is a maximum security facility located on Paddock Road, north of Smyrna, Delaware.  Building 20 contains support spaces for the connected Secure Housing Units (SHU). Building 20 is approximately 11,900 square feet and opened in 2000 as part of a 600 bed major expansion of the Correctional Center.  The scope of work for this project consisted of an addition  (4,500 square feet total) on the east side of the existing building. The goal of the project was to provide needed additional secure classroom space for offender programs such as mental health, substance abuse and education.
