Smyth Hall is located on the Campus of the University of Delaware in Newark. In 2014 R G Architects was hired to renovate the showers and sinks in the 4-story co-ed dorm originally constructed in 1952. The bathrooms were previously renovated in 2000, however, the sink wall was untouched and the showers leaked onto the floors below. Privacy between and in front of the showers was also a concern. RGA recommended that the entire shower bank be demolished down to the concrete slab and bare block walls. RGA then designed a waterproof barrier that the new terrazzo shower bases and full height Corian laminated walls would reside in. The lavatory sinks, fixture wall , and piping were demolished and replaced as well along with the ceilings and lighting.
